"Baseball has a therapeutic effect. When I am watching baseball, nothing else seems to matter. It releases any prior stress. It calms me down when nothing else will. It allows me to experience a true form of passion. For some people, it is just a game. But for me, it is my therapy."

Well I don’t know if I speak for all Mets fans, but I’m sure my reasoning for this response I’m about to give aligns with most other fans. The Mets are in desperate need of a shortstop. At this point, Ruben Tejada has had too many blown opportunities and Wilmer Flores is not comfortable with that position yet.

However, even though the market isn’t exactly overflowing with available shortstops, the Mets would probably be making a mistake if they were to go after Castro. He doesn’t drive in very many runs, he doesn’t score as much as they would need him to, and he is not a power hitter. The only thing he has going for him is a good average, which don’t get me wrong, that is a good thing to have, but its not what the Mets need most. I think they will end up going after an outfielder who can hit 25+ homers and knock in around 100 runs. Castro is a decent player, relatively speaking, but I just don’t think he is the right fit for this organization. And as for filling the shortstop position, I think the Mets will end up settling on Wilmer Flores and relying on him to develop his skills in the offseason.

The last comment sums up the real reason why girls watch baseball…

Not the only reason, but it definitely is an up-side!

So I’ve been walking around my campus all day and just waiting for an influx of Royals and Giants fans. Much to my disappointment, I have seen only one Giants fan, no Royals fans, and about 50 Braves fans. What on earth is going on here?! I just want to get pumped about the World Series!!
